Q: I was born in…

A: Quebec City, Quebec. I grew up in Montreal from 1985 onwards and I moved to NYC in 2006, for grad school.


Q: My earliest art memory is…

A: going to art galleries with my dad (also an artist) at a very young age. I was often the only kid in the room, gazing at paintings. 


Q: I first realized I wanted to be an artist when…

A: I went to a Fine Arts elementary school, and I loved all my classes (painting, singing, acting, instruments). It wasn’t until High School when I convinced the Secretary to let me drop Physics to take Darkroom Photography that I really fell in love with photography.


Q: My mentors are/were…

A: so many to list my parents. Photographers Eddie Soloway and Joanne Dugan. My fellow Camera of the Month Club photographer friends.


Q: I feel most inspired to create when…

A: I am at the beach.


Q: When I feel stuck creatively, I…

A: journal, and go for long walks with my camera and music playing, and usually bring a mirror with me. Usually I make myself go to the beach, regardless of the weather. It helps me get back to what excites me creatively. 


Q: My favorite artists to follow are…

A: Alex Praeger, Joel Meyerowitz, Vivian Maier, Zoe Buckman, Brooke Didonato, the feeds of Women Street Photographers and NYC Street Photographers, Fikri Abubakar. I could go on and on.


Q: I can’t start my day without…

A: a strong La Colombe coffee, my journal and meditating, and reading the current astrology.


Q: My most prized art possession is…

A: all my cameras, but especially my vintage Polaroid and my mom’s Canon AE1 35mm camera that she used when I was a kid that I now use.
